The movie starts with Arun (Siddharth), an engineering student, explaining how he broke up with Parvathi (Amala Paul). Arun narrates how his love for Parvathi started and what are the series of incidents that lead to his break up. Later, Arun witnesses similar break ups in his friends life, and in the process, realizes how badly he was missing Parvathi all this time. So what events prompt Arun to change his mind and how he and Parvathi come together eventually forms the plot.
Analysis :
Director Balaji Mohan has come up with a different storyline and an appealing presentation. However, the narrative style was not so swift at times eventually diluting the true essence of the romantic movie. It was a well written script and the screenplay was up to the mark but the movie lacks the panache of a typical romantic anecdote as the movie opens with the lead protagonist explaining about his lost love. The film looks into mindset of contemporary life and how certain decisions can lead to costly mistakes. And Balaji Mohan has followed the thumb rule for developing the content and didn't bend for any cinematic or illogical nonsense. A very sincere and realistic attempt that appeals predominately for urban class.
Siddharth this time comes with tale that accentuates on break ups and lost love and Balaji Mohan as justified the same with this content. Siddharth comes up with yet another authentic performance. His envious physique and strikingly handsome looks create good impact. While the first half goes smooth and has light elements of comedy and romance, the second half gets into few twists and mixes with sentiment and melodrama.
Cine-gossips Perspective :
Love Failure is a fun and quirky film which comes with an unlike conventional script. Siddharth once again targeted a film that caters of metro market and urban youth - particularly the dialogues which could have been much better. In fact, they are too urbane and the thump for a romantic calligraphy was missing. Amala Paul was a good pick for the female lead as her face looks fresh. They way her character was etched, has more connectivity to the audience. Her onscreen chemistry with Siddharth was also good. Although Balaji deviated from the original plot, he ensured that the roads in the subplots lead to the movie’s original message.
Performances
Siddharth once again excels in the role of lover boy. Looks like doing romcom tales has become a cake walk for him. Amala Paul looks apt for the character and is a perfect for the female lead. She looks impressive with her trustworthy performance.
Plus Points
Siddharth’s performance
Amala Paul characterization
Music
Minus Points
Too much drama
Predictable climax
Technicalities
SS Thaman’s music is only good in parts. A better background score would have surely lifted the film in the latter part. Nirav Shah‘s cinematography work is commendable as he has managed to capture and showcase beautiful moments of an idealistic college life. Editor Suresh could have done better a job in the second half as the audience feel the film is getting drawn-out.
Final Word: Love Failure movie review: Siddharth’s ‘Love Failure’ film offers something new only in terms of style and screenplay but the concept remains pretty identical.
Cine-gossips rating: 3.00/5
